1942

During my second year of college I did a project about the year 1942. I based it on my great grandfather, Syd Weightman. He was a pilot in the second world war, his plane was shot down leaving him the only survivor from the crash. He was then taken by the Germans as a prisoner of war and had plastic surgery preformed on him by the Nazis.

The image it the very top of this page is one of my final pieces for the project, I made a series of ceramic frames holding images of him and his family in the prime of his life. The images above are as follows; a portrait of Syd while he was in the RAF, His crew who unfortunately perished in the crash and his wedding day in 1948.
